You've arrived at the website, blog and portfolio of James Mattison. James is a senior graphic designer and art director based in Dubai, UAE, with strong, established skills in business communication.
James has been working in the design industry for over ten years, and has been in Dubai since 2006. In this time he's acquired a wide base-level understanding of many of the design and communication issues relating to clients doing business in the Middle-East.
James's strengths lie in his ability to actively listen and ask relevant questions during client briefs leading to greater understanding. His strong research and creative brainstorming techniques and good team delegation and management skills based on available skill-sets, personalities and time restraints.
Hard-working and committed with incredibly high standards and attention to detail, James loves to be challenged. He is also particularly interested in design education, both to learn and to pass on knowledge, and collaboration with other creative professionals.
Creating this site wouldn't have been possible without the inspiration, information and technology from many sites, most notably: ExpressionEngine, 960 Grid System and, Subtraction.
Thanks to the various companies and clients that gave me the opportunity to create the project work shown here, in particular Cubic in Nottingham, UK and, Origin Communications in Dubai, UAE.
For the launch of the Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha, the Qatar Foundation wanted to produce a gift book to be given away at the opening event. The subject of the book was Arab science through the ages.
Since the event was being attended by royalty and the world’s leading scientists and businessmen, no expense was spared at any stage of the project.
I’ve recently joined Tumblr and Google+ so if you want to get even further inside my head, follow me there too.
